I am a freelance science writer currently based in Toronto, Canada, with a particular interest in animal welfare.

I love communicating complex, scientific ideas in an engaging, balanced, thought-out and informative way.

I currently teach the 314 Communicating Science course for undergraduate students at McGill University. Students produce written and oral work to communicate scientific findings and challenges to a lay audience.

I also run workshops for graduate students on topics including social media for scientists and writing grant applications.

I am available to guest lecture on topics ranging from academic to inspiring.

Presenting with colleague Kyle Kubler at the 2026 Science Writers and Communicators conference.

Most of my presentations are suited for a postgraduate (Honours, Masters, Doctoral) level audience, and include:

  • Using your higher degree outside academia

  • An introduction to non-academic science writing

  • Making the most of your postgrad experience

  • Getting started as a freelance science writer


I am also available for teaching into university biology and psychology courses and am best suited for classes on: animal science, zoology, ethology and evolution.
